Caridad Responds to Kaiser Health News Study

Caridad Center responds to Kaiser Health News Study.

The Kaiser Health News study health centers released today (4/18/2012) leaves the impression that community centers fall short on key measures such as helping diabetes control blood sugar, a significant problem in the nation.

For the uninsured underserved the Caridad Center in Boynton Beach is the largest clinic of its kind in Florida addressing the needs of diabetics, and patients with obesity, hypertension  and other chronic diseases with a three-pronged approach:

  • Education for groups and individuals,
  • Prevention well visits and outreach
  • Treatment of those diagnosed with chronic disease including  counseling, monitoring and management of the disease.

The Kaiser study found that 73 % of the clinics performed significantly below average in maintaining diabetics’ blood sugar.  Caridad Center patients show a dramatic 85% improvement  through our program.

Diego Gonzalez: Caridad's Man With A Caring Heart

Diego Gonzalez: Caridad's Man With A Caring Heart
Diego Gonzalez, is the man who never says "no" to a request from  a member of the Caridad Center Staff.
Because he is willing to do whatever it takes to help patients, he has been nominated for the Florence Fuller Men with Caring Hearts Award this year.
Diego is Caridad's star referral patient liaison. He never hesitates to go to doctor’s appointments with a patient, or help them navigate lab work or follow up visits.
While others give excuses, he drives patients round trip to Palm Beach County hospitals, or as far away as Miami for appointments at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Diego is a man with a caring heart, and we love him for all that he does.
